For 13 years, Jim has been very active on Maryland's Eastern Shore music scene playing both bass and keyboards in numerous projects. He held the bass chair for two years with blues/rock trio, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood featuring guitar great, Guthrie Matthews and drummer, Roger Lewis. Unfortunately, their only recorded work is the Mr. Rogers Christmas CD (Monkeyboy).
In January 2002, Jim started Johnny Bling with Erik Higgins and Aaron Wallace of the Licks. Their original blend of cacophony and party guitar made them a great live band to watch and listen to. They recorded a five song EP, Five for Five (Etroneks). Jim also played bass on the first public performance of Jason Mraz's Curbside Prophet and The Remedy during the recording of Waiting for My Rocket to Come.
In January 2004, Jim reunited with guitarist, Guthrie Matthews and formed Big Bang Method with drummer Dave Gladding. Their first instrumental outing, BOOM! (Etroneks) is a sophisticated blend of progressive rock, metal and jazz fusion. The all instrumental CD showcases some of Jim's best bass playing to date. Jim also recorded, mixed and mastered BOOM! at his Etroneks recording studio.
He has also shared the stage with Jeff Washington, Joe Martone, Rick Forrest, Kathe Reavis, Erin Dickens, Jordan Page and many others.
Jim has recently opened a new project recording studio in Oxford, Maryland and is continuing work on his alter ego project, KEYTRONEK, which features him on keys, bass, guitar, drum loops & vocals (vocoded, decoded & tricoded).
For 2010, Jim is planning to get Big Bang Method back in the studio to write and record their new CD, BLAST!!. He is also performing live with EklectriK.
